Abstract

 The results of long-term investigations on permanent sample plots of Scotch pine (Pinus silvestris) and pendent white birch (Betula pendula) have been presented. The data obtained make it possible to follow dynamics of stands growth and to compare them with Tables of yield. Processing of the materials has shown that Scotch pine stands on the sample plots have better growth and pendent white birch stands practically do not differ from Tables of yields.       
         Comparison of pine and birch stands between themselves has shown that the latter are less effective and have less stock. Scotch pine stands have better protective functions and are more acceptable from management viewpoint.
