Abstract

Decision Support Systems developed for forest management is reviewed. The main terms are defined and some examples are presented. International scientific publications and Internet resources are used for the review. Russian forest modelling systems are also included into the review. The inference is as follows: it is necessary to develop and to apply Decision Support Systems for Sustainable Forest Management in Russia; and it is possible to realize due to the developed earlier Russian forest modelling systems.

Keywords: sustainable forest management, decision support systems, forest ecosystem modeling, decision optimization procedure, GIS-technology, IT-technology
